Project 5: Predicting contact lens related dry eye

Project Description

The latest Tear Film and Ocular Surface report (2013) emphasises the importance of contact lens interaction with tear film. Many studies conclude that all soft contact lens materials adversely affect tear film physiology.

Differences have recently been shown to exist in in-vivo tear film surface quality, depending on lens type. The aim of the study is to use non-invasively measured pre-corneal and pre-lens tear film surface quality to develop forecasting methods for predicting future contact lens-related dry eye and to optimise contact lens fitting to include a lens material with the highest tear film biocompatibility.
