Project 10: Evaluation of safety and efficacy of a Thermal Pulsation System versus other treatments of meibomian gland dysfunction

Project Description

Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is the leading cause of evaporative dry eye. Despite the various treatment options for MGD, it is often difficult to obtain total relief of signs and symptoms and this condition can lead to sub-optimal clinical outcomes and reduced patient satisfaction after laser vision correction.

The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and efficacy of the new Lipiflow thermal pulsation system versus traditional MGD treatments.  Secondary aims of the study include determination of post-operative refractive predictability, visual and patient-reported outcomes in an MGD population undergoing laser vision correction and the impact of different treatments on these key metrics.
