EDEN fellows Maryam Mousavi (ESR 5) and Duygu Acar (ESR 8) attended the Optom Meeting “BARCELONA 2017” that was held in Barcelona (Spain) from 12-14 May 2017. The conference was jointly hosted by the Spanish General Council of Optometry (CGCOO) and the European Academy of Optometry and Optics (EAOO). Researchers and professionals in the fields of optics, optometry, and vision science from over 30 countries came together at this event to share their latest research and clinical practice.
The theme of the conference was “Vision and New Technologies”. The lectures were focused on the impact of technology on vision as well as the benefits derived from the new technologies for diagnosis and treatment. The fellows had the opportunity of broadening their knowledge on the topics and learning about the most recent developments. Duygu presented her poster entitled “Novel liposomal artificial tear formulation for dry eye disease treatment”.
The welcome event of the conference, organized by the Col·legi Oficial d’Òptics Optometristes de Catalunya in the astonishing historical building of Casa Llotja de Mar, offered the participants a taste of Catalan culture; with the local cuisine accompanied by a joyous choir and a short film of Gaudí. During this pleasant event, the fellows had the chance of networking while getting acquainted with the Catalan culture.
