Between the days 28th and 29th of January 2018 the 37th Congress of Optometry and Contactology (C.O.C) was held in Le Beffroi de Montrouge, Paris, France.
This event, accessible to all optical professionals and optometrists, aims to present the latest scientific information but also to facilitate interprofessional exchanges regarding optometry, contact lenses, dry eye and the latest breakthrough regarding the pathology and its management.
Edouard Lafosse, Marie Curie predoctoral student of the GIO (Optometry Research Group,Valencia, Spain) , was invited to participate as dry eye expert, along with Prof. James Wolffsohn to discuss on the latest TFOS Dry Eye Workshop II (DEWS II) released during summer 2017.
During the conference, Edouard presented a 1-hour lecture untitled: “Pathophysiology of dry eye: Role of inflammation in the onset of the disease”.
Edouard is carrying out his doctoral thesis project within the GIO under the supervision of Dr. Santiago García Lázaro and Dr.Teresa Ferrer Blasco, from the GIO, and Prof. James Wolffsohn, from Aston University, both funded by the European Comission with a predoctoral Marie Curie fellowship linked to the European project “European Dry Eye Network (EDEN)”
