The 1st Winter School of EDEN was organized during 22-25 February 2016, at the Faculty of Optics and Optometry and the Faculty of Pharmacy of Complutense University of Madrid, Spain.
This 4-day winter school brought together the fellows and the main researchers of the network for the first time, giving them the opportunity to get the know each other and providing the Early Stage Researchers with a thorough scientific and complementary skills training.
The winter school kicked off with a welcome coffee and continued with the presentations of the principal coordinator (Dr. David Madrid-Costa), project manager, and the representatives of the participating universities and institutions.
Each fellow presented his project, explaining its importance and objectives, in an interactive ambiance where all the participants could make questions and suggestions.
The winter school proceeded with several seminars, providing a comprehensive insight to the advances in dry eye disease. Furthermore, it included complementary skill workshops on topics such as critical thinking, project management in research, and intellectual property rights.
All the fellows and the researchers were engaged in free time activities together where they enjoyed the city and each other’s company.
